Camels or Horses

by admin

There’s an old saying that a camel is a horse designed by a committee. A committee approach adds complexity, but two heads really are better than one.

Good managers set parameters for committees – managing deadlines, defining resource limitations and monitoring time spent in meetings.

Managing the time spent is always difficult. Holding too many meetings or allowing redundant discussions does not enhance outcomes. Plowing the same ground over and over is a waste of time and talent.

Good managers ensure the committee members work thoroughly but efficiently to reach their goal.

A camel isn’t much good in the Kentucky Derby.
