While many do-gooder Atlantans were assisting stranded drivers during last month’s winter storm, Bonnie Scales of North Carolina was busy helping another stranded soul, this one of the four-legged variety.
When she came upon “Blue,” as she now calls him, the Pit Bull / Shar-Pei mix had been hit by a car and left to freeze on the side of the road.
When the vet bills to save Blue’s life grew into the thousands, Scales turned to the crowd for help. 237 contributions and several surgeries later, Blue is happy, healed and grateful and now looking for a forever home.
