Renowned architect Henri Jova passed away in January at 94.
Jova brought a new design sensibility to our city – most notably in the design of Colony Square at Peachtree and 14th Street. It was the first multi-use community in Atlanta and well ahead of its time.
The development incorporated office and residential use with hotel and retail space. The project set a vision and tone for Midtown that is just now coming into full bloom.
Jova’s designs included many remarkable contemporary homes, the “Pie Bar” building on Monroe Drive – originally a SunTrust branch – and the Carter Center in Poncey-Highland.
