Zoo Atlanta plans summer celebration for giant pandas’ farewell

Zoo Atlanta‘s giant pandas will soon return to China, but not before a summer filled with celebrations. As the only remaining giant pandas in the U.S., adults Lun Lun and Yang Yang, along with their twins Ya Lun and Xi Lun, will depart in the fourth quarter of 2024. The zoo has applied for their international travel permits and is coordinating with Chinese partners on the timing.

Before its beloved residents depart, Zoo Atlanta will host a summer of events, free for members and general admission ticket holders, including a June 1 kickoff celebration with cultural performances and educational activities.
