Our state had a net population gain of 114,000 residents between 2020 and 2021. And we can expect to welcome 1.1 million new Georgians by 2030, according to the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget.

The population of the state is around 10.8 million people, up 10.6% from 2010. Projected estimates put our population at 12 million by 2030 and 13 million by 2040.

The state’s largest cities are Atlanta (6.1 million), Augusta (611,000), Savannah (405,000) and Columbus (328,000). The fastest-growing counties include Bryan County, which is west of Savannah and grew by 48%, and Columbia County near Augusta, which grew by 26% since 2010.
