Designed for Drama

George Vanderbilt had 22,000 books in his library at his home, Biltmore in Asheville. An exhibition of costumes from movies based on some of those books will be on display there from February 10-July 4. Designed for Drama: Fashion from the Classics features more than 40 costumes throughout the 250-room home, including a gown from “The Portrait of a Lady.” Admission to the exhibition is included in general admission price.

Stay at the Village Hotel on Biltmore Estate. The property, which opened in December 2015, is next to the Winery. Rates start at $149 through March 19.
