Adopt, don’t shop

by

Four years ago this week I adopted my furkid, Morton B. Murphy – a 60-pound golden retriever with droopy eyes and a quirky personality. We found each other after the sudden loss of my first golden, Sherman.

Found on the streets of Bama, he was malnourished, exhausted, covered in fleas and welts, and scared to death. I too was in a bad place, heartbroken and filled with guilt. Was it too soon?

The moment I said I would never have another dog, Morton came into my life. Ultimately, we needed each other to heal. As they say, “Who rescued whom?”
