A Manhattan Supreme Court judge made divorce and social media history when he ruled that a woman could deliver a summons for divorce to her husband, a drifter with no fixed place of employment or address, via Facebook.
Divorce and family law has been adapting to technology for years as social media channels are now woven into the fabric of our society. Less than 10 years ago, it was considered revolutionary to allow a summons via email.
However, as divorce laws vary by state, serving divorce papers via Facebook and other electronic methods also changes as you cross state lines.
