My children and I submitted DNA to 23andme. Results were not surprising: I’m a mix of many races and cultures: northern European, Native American, Ashkenazi Jewish – even West African.
It mostly confirms my mother’s stories about my family tree were accurate, with a few surprising appearances. At one point, an ancestor was 100% of each of the above lineages.
I believe all our descendants will eventually blend into relatively identical profiles and will look back with curiosity and disdain that our generations were so petty as to discriminate based on race. As Rodney King said: “Can we all get along?”
