Doppelgängers in Cleveland

by Jan Schroder

I walked into a neighborhood bar a few weeks ago in baseball-crazed Cleveland, Ohio, and someone immediately asked me if I was James Taylor, a lifetime doppelganger issue.

I looked up and, while he was telling me Taylor was his daughter’s favorite singer and asking for a photo, I realized he looked like John Smoltz, the former all-star pitcher for the Atlanta Braves who this week was doing color analysis for Fox’s telecast of the World Series with Cleveland and Chicago.

“Hey,” I said, “did anyone ever say you look like …” “John Smoltz,” his friends answered in unison.
