In its fifth year, the Acworth-Cobb Dragon Boat Festival will be held 9AM-4PM on Saturday, May 21, at Dallas Landing Park in Acworth. The family-friendly festival includes community and corporate teams, each navigating a 40-foot-long boat decorated with a dragon head and tail on each end. Each boat is filled with 20 paddlers, a drummer and steersperson competing in a high-energy race on the water.
The water sport originated in China more than 2,000 years ago and is presently the fastest growing sport globally, having regained popularity over the last three decades.
The festival benefits local cancer patients and survivors.
