I’ll finally be joining the 112 million people who have seen “The Lion King” when it returns to the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. The show runs from Oct. 2-20. North America’s longest-running and best-attended show premiered in 1997 and won six Tony Awards in 1998, including Best Musical.
The movie debuted in 1994 and all the songs, with music by Elton John and lyrics by Tim Rice, are included in the show along with three new songs.
There are no real animals. More than 230 puppets are used to portray the characters with some actors operating several puppets at once.
