“Support Group for Men” is what you get when you take a modern, male-driven sitcom like “The League” and mix in themes of wokeness, acceptance and emotional vulnerability. To some that may sound like quite the gambit, but playwright Ellen Fairey pulls it off with surprising grace and beaucoup laughs.
The indelible intimacy of the Horizon Theatre – which boasts just 172 seats compared to the Fox Theater’s 4,665 – further accentuates the play’s loftier themes.
In the end, “Support Group for Men” is an easy recommendation for date night, guys’ night or simply any theater aficionado in the greater Atlanta area.
