Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in Georgia, with rates above the national average. By 2030, it is projected to become the top cancer killer for people under 50.
To raise awareness and encourage early screenings, Georgia CORE has launched the “Weird Looking Stools” campaign. Thirty artist-designed stools by Julian Scalia, each symbolizing possible colon cancer symptoms, are on display in metro Atlanta bars and public spaces. The stools aim to spark conversation about a disease often overlooked and encourage screenings.
Participating locations will host the stools until November, turning everyday community settings into lifesaving awareness opportunities.
