With busy jobs, family responsibilities and conflicting schedules, it can be hard for full groups of friends to connect all at once. While the holidays are typically all about spending time with family, many use the downtime to also catch up with friends by joining together for a Friendsgiving celebration.
Referring to a large meal eaten with friends either on or near Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving is a relatively new concept.
It began appearing around 2007 with more significant use of the word beginning in 2012. It is typically a more informal gathering than a traditional Thanksgiving meal, many times a pot-luck style.
