The Lindsay Clancy trial has me thinking. More specifically, how dangerous it can be to accept the first version of a story as the whole story.
The jury is deadlocked 11–1, and the judge says the holdout juror isn’t applying the legal standard of reasonable doubt as instructed.
In business, we call this due diligence: Question the assumptions. Look for what’s missing. Follow the inconsistencies. Dig deeper before drawing conclusions. Don’t confuse a compelling narrative with the complete truth.
Because whether you’re evaluating a business, a deal, or a crisis, sometimes the smartest thing you can say is: What’s missing?
