Here’s a festival for all mollusk maniacs. The 33rd Lowcountry Oyster Festival in Charleston, South Carolina is the world’s largest. Shuckers will be working overtime to pry 80,000 pounds of the enticing bivalves from their stubborn shells on January 31 at Boone Hall Plantation.
If you’re up to the challenge, sign up for the Oyster Shucking or the Oyster Eating contests. Enjoy live music, beer, wine and a food court that will serve items from local restaurants. Tickets are $17.50 in advance and $25 day of.
Check out great packages at local hotels online at www.charlestoncvb.com.
