Twelve years ago, Cheryl and Phil Yagoda took their son, Ian, for an MRI and heard three terrible words: “We found something …”
That something was an inoperable tumor on Ian’s brain stem. Instantly, they were thrown into the world of pediatric oncology, where they learned brain cancer is the most deadly type of childhood cancer and receives shockingly little funding. Galvanized, they founded Ian’s Friends Foundation to fund pediatric brain tumor research.
IFF’s largest fundraiser, Evening of Inspiration, will be held Saturday, Nov. 18. Last year, 600 guests donated $1.1 million to support IFF’s mission to find a cure.
