What to know about BA.2 and second booster shots

by The 100 Companies

The BA.2 sub-variant of Omicron made headlines recently as the strand rapidly moved across European countries and into the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control, BA.2 accounted for 23% of U.S. cases in mid-March, which was double the amount the week prior.

In response, the CDC and FDA approved a second booster vaccine shot for some. With studies indicating benefits from the first booster may lessen after a few months, a second booster can be administered at least four months after the first. Individuals 50+ and immunocompromised are currently eligible for a second booster.
