Each year, Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the U.S. Beginning this weekend, events will take place around Atlanta to learn more about, honor and celebrate the holiday:
• Visit the National Center for Civil and Human Rights June 15-19 for several Juneteenth activities, including scavenger hunts, performances, trivia and more.
• RSVP for The Ke’nekt Cooperative’s Juneteenth Jubilee Block Party, featuring cultural performances, games, a Black business marketplace and food.
• Check out the Atlanta History Center’s Juneteenth Celebration, honoring Black Americans’ culinary history and contribution to baseball.
• Attend the annual Atlanta Juneteenth Parade and Music Festival in Piedmont Park.
