Recently, I hosted my college roommates in New Orleans and Pass Christian and then took a road trip with a friend through Maine and into Canada. Typically Type A, I wanted to create full itineraries, hitting the “must-see” places. But somewhere in the planning, I was reminded that rigid schedules can make us forget the most important thing: letting the journey be the destination.
I needed to give myself permission to simply let things happen – heartfelt conversations, beach walks, backroad discoveries and meeting new people. Those unscripted moments become the stories we remember, long after the attractions fade from memory.
