Summer break is winding down as metro Atlanta students prepare to return to classrooms.
Atlanta Public Schools and school systems in Fulton, Cobb, Clayton, DeKalb, Fayette, Cherokee and Henry counties begin the 2026-27 academic year Aug. 3. Gwinnett County Public Schools welcome students back Aug. 5, while Forsyth County and Coweta County schools start Aug. 6. Families should check district and school calendars for open houses, orientations, transportation updates and other back-to-school details.
With first bells quickly approaching, now is the time to finalize school supplies, update registrations and transportation plans, and begin easing children back into consistent sleep and morning routines.
