Two Georgia students recently showcased their spelling skills on the national stage at the 2026 Scripps National Spelling Bee, held May 26-28 in Washington, D.C.

Sarv Dharavane, a 12-year-old sixth grader from Peachtree Middle School in Dunwoody, returned for his third consecutive appearance after winning the Georgia State Spelling Bee again this year. Dharavane advanced to the finals and finished among the top three nationally, building on his previous top-three finish in 2025.

Joining him was 13-year-old Sreeya Lakkimsetti of Stallings Middle School in Columbia County, who advanced to the semifinals as Georgia’s state runner-up during the national competition event.
