Growing up, snow created significant memories.
I remember opening the door of our house in New York and welcoming a 6-foot wall of white. We would sled down the hill to our frozen pond and skate all day. A week after I got my license in New Jersey, we had a fluke October snowstorm, and I got stuck due to ice – police to the rescue. And, no matter where we lived, Dad always had a plow to dig us out.
Today, in Georgia, everything stopped. Hearing only the snow in the early quiet was like reconnecting to the earth’s heartbeat.
