Imagine this: you’re the CEO of a successful company. You’ve got a supportive staff and profits are soaring. You’ve brought in a new batch of interns.
Building Relationships
-
-
At our firm, we make time for employees to gather outside of work to enjoy themselves at least two or three times per year.
-
When I started out as an intern, I did the closeout paperwork for the B25 Crown Room at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Twenty years later, New South is wrapping up the brand new Concourse B Sky Club, which replaces that Crown Room.
-
In case you haven’t heard, New South recently moved offices. We spent months looking for and designing the perfect new office, handling logistics and packing up the office for our move up the block to Regions Plaza.
-
Aron Ain of Kronos recently discussed the incalculable value of having a good boss in The New York Times’ “Corner Office” column. I can relate – I’ve had phenomenal bosses throughout my career, from intern until now, at New South. Being a good boss is hard work and having a good boss is something you shouldn’t take for granted.
-
Many have no idea how admired Georgia’s jails are, but I do, since it’s one of my favorite markets in which we work.
-
-
My wife and I recently purchased a home on Lake Martin in Alabama. I met our new neighbor and recognized him from a business dinner we’d had years ago. Then another new neighbor walked out and we quickly realized he was my colleague, Rob Ragan.
-
As hard as it is for me to believe, my oldest daughter recently started high school.
-
Most people at our company are Braves fans, and even though the team isn’t having a great season, New South employees have still enjoyed using our company season tickets this season. It’s always great to attend a game at the Ted.
-
I always enjoy watching the Olympics, and the 2016 games have been no different. I’m proud to say New South Construction had a part in the preparations for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics by constructing the Lake Lanier Olympic Park, site of the rowing and canoe/kayak events.
-
Though he’d only been Delta Air Lines’ CEO for three months, Ed Bastian cemented relationships with his team of more than 80,000 worldwide employees when he took personal responsibility on WSB-TV last week for the computer outage that stranded tens of thousands of passengers.
-
I recently went on a golf trip with several friends from work. I’ve known these folks for years – in a professional setting at first, but over time we became genuine friends.
-
With the weather finally warming up, I’m looking forward to spending time on the lake with my family this summer. My daughters, my wife and I are planning to spend as much time as possible on Lake Martin together.
-
I’ve been with the same company for 20 years, and several of my colleagues have been here even longer.
-
As a kid, I attended a summer camp in my home state of Kentucky. This summer, my oldest daughter will attend the same camp. While my oldest is away, I’ll be golfing with my youngest. She loves to play almost as much as I do.
-
Around this time each year, most people give up on at least one New Year’s resolution. However, I’ve made it a priority to stick to one of my resolutions.
