The AJC reports a German development firm has acquired several buildings Downtown. What’s the impact?
“The Newport USA plan sounds like the kind of thoughtful, historically sensitive and pedestrian-oriented investment that South Downtown needs. They’re rehabbing about 25 historic buildings – most are either empty or underused – and adding new life,” said Darin Givens. “After the project is complete, Atlantans will be able to visit the historic birthplace of the city, just a few blocks from the Zero Mile Post, and see something that makes them proud. We haven’t been able to say that about South Downtown in my lifetime.”
