Building on the award-winning success of its contiguous affordable housing communities, Columbia Residential and SUMMECH CDC have launched a scattered site initiative.
Simply put, a scattered site is an array of single-family homes dispersed in a designated area, managed by one property management firm. The scattered sites are within approximately one square mile of blighted homes and blocks of vacant land. Columbia and SUMMECH CDC have built and renovated homes – 74 total – with affordable rents for families at 60% of area median income.
On Oct. 20, Columbia and partners will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for Mechanicsville Cityside.
