Upon graduating from Frederick Douglass High School, Derrick Mosley faced a decision – go to college or get a job to support his family.
Thankfully, a teacher introduced Derrick to Westside Works – a program that provides Westside residents with employment opportunities and job training in construction, nursing, education, auto repair, culinary and office administration. Seeing an opportunity to receive an education and build his career, Derrick applied. After four weeks of training, he was placed in a five-year long electrician apprenticeship program at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Since it began in 2014, Westside Works has placed more than 200 people in career-training programs.
