Yesterday, Amazon celebrated its 20th birthday with Prime Day, treating Amazon Prime members to new discounted items every 10 minutes. The same day, Amazon’s big-box competitor, Walmart, released a statement, questioning the idea of paying extra to save money. They also introduced thousands of “Rollback” deals, available to everyone.
In Atlanta, the competition between Amazon and Walmart is nothing new. Last October, news – and ground – broke when Majestic Realty began developing a 1.2-million square-foot fulfillment center for Walmart. The same year year, Amazon leased 300,000 square feet in Atlanta.
Who will win between the two retailers? Likely consumers and developers.
