Surya Tiwari was never afraid to make moves – from his beginnings in India as a teacher, to earning extra income supplying local handmade products to the company that is now Macy’s, to expanding to the U.S. in 1986.

Now under his son Satya’s leadership, the textile manufacturer hosted the governor and Bartow County dignitaries Tuesday at the groundbreaking of Surya’s 1-million-square-foot facility. New South Construction will build the two-story building – 53,000 sf of corporate office space and 980,000 sf of warehouse and support space – bringing 200 new jobs.

County Commissioner Steve Taylor and Governor Nathan Deal spoke at the celebration.
