New South Construction was recently awarded the $3.4 million Design/Build for the Russ Chandler Stadium project at Georgia Tech.

The Atlanta-based firm, also in the running for the new Braves stadium, will focus on reconfiguring the field-level “back-of-the-house” operations. This entails excavation of the elevated plaza above the stadium seating near the concessions, as well as work on the equipment room, pitching tunnels, locker room and training facility.

The stadium, which holds more than 4,000 spectators, was constructed in 1930 and underwent previous renovations in 2002. The stadium was also used as a training facility during the 1996 Olympic Games.
