Georgia’s music industry just scored a major legislative win.
Spearheaded by Georgia Music Partners, the Georgia Music Office and Music Ready Communities Act (HB 14) passed the Georgia General Assembly with overwhelming bipartisan support – 47–9 in the Senate and 161–5 in the House – and now heads to Governor Kemp for signature. Led by Senator Sonya Halpern and Representative Casey Carpenter, as well as GMP’s Mala Sharma, the bill would create a statewide music office and local certification program.
With a $5 billion impact and 70,000 jobs statewide, Georgia is formalizing its position as a leading force in the global music economy.
