March 6 marks Crossover Day in the Georgia General Assembly, a key deadline during the state’s annual legislative session.
Crossover Day is the point when most bills must pass out of the chamber where they were introduced, either the Georgia House or the Georgia Senate, to remain eligible for consideration during the current session. If a bill does not pass its chamber of origin by this deadline, it typically cannot move forward this year. After Crossover Day, bills that passed can then be considered by the opposite chamber.
The deadline serves as a major procedural milestone in Georgia’s legislative process.
