The 2017 Hyundai Ioniq EV

by

There’s a sense of hurriedness about the fully electric Hyundai Ioniq. It starts up instantly, like pressing Home on an iPhone, and in Sport Mode, the Ioniq leaps off the line like a roller coaster. You get the sense that despite its modest power, it’s being chased by something.

It is. The Tesla Model 3 will arrive eventually, offering at least double the 110-mile range of the Ioniq for the same price.

But for now, the Ioniq offers a smooth, silent and overall solid EV option for commuters. Buyers eying Priuses should also consider the Ioniq in Hybrid form.
