Cutting to the chase, the 2017 Audi A4 exudes brilliance. It launches to 60 mph 1.3 seconds faster than its rival Lexus IS – without the annoying turbo lag – and surely will make fewer troublesome trips to the dealership than a BMW 3 Series or Mercedes C-Class.

But the A4’s secret weapon is silence. At highway speeds, its cabin is only 1 decibel louder than a Rolls-Royce.

This car does everything well and then some. The Audi brand doesn’t have quite the same glitzy ring as Lexus, BMW or Mercedes, but the A4 has proven that it should.
