Atlanta law Firm Cash, Krugler & Fredericks alerted FOX 5 I-team’s Dana Fowle of residential elevators’ dangers, and she produced a video about the firm’s client, the Helvey family.
The Helvey’s residential elevator’s flawed design enabled their son Jacob to get wedged between its inner and outer doors, leading him to suffer catastrophic and permanent brain damage. In Georgia, there are over 900 elevators with this design.
Dana continued her in-depth investigation and produced a five-part series on residential elevators’ dangers that advanced changes to Georgia’s safety code and when she was awarded an Emmy – she gave it to the Helveys.
