Sometimes the holiday cheer is overshadowed by a lesser fun winter counterpart. There are several ways to handle seasonal depression when you’re feeling down in the dumps:
1. Try beginning a new tradition. If the holidays aren’t going as planned try out something new.
2. Keep moving. Practice incorporating 30 minutes to an hour a day of intentional movement and exercise.
3. Limit alcohol and food consumption. Consuming too much alcohol and food can negatively impact mood. Focus on eating healthy and hydrating regularly.
4. Surround yourself with friends and family. The company of loved ones is an effective distraction from annoying intrusive thoughts.
