If F. Scott Fitzgerald stayed at a resort, it’s good enough for me. The Don CeSar in St. Pete Beach, Florida, opened in 1928 and welcomed several celebrity guests. It served as a hospital for the U.S. Army during World War II and reopened to guests in 1973. The resort has 277 rooms, two pools and three restaurants.
The fine dining choice is Maritana Grille, where we enjoyed seafood dinners and a chocolate dessert prepared with liquid nitrogen.
Spa Oceana opened in 2008 with 16 treatment rooms, whirlpools, steam rooms and a rooftop terrace overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.
