It was going to be perfect. Our weekend visit to Washington D.C. would coincide perfectly with the peak of cherry blossom season. But a big rain storm came along and knocked every blossom off those trees.
Even if the blooms go early, there’s still plenty of fun at the National Cherry Blossom Festival, which runs from March 20-April 17 and commemorates the gift of 3,000 trees to our nation’s capital from Japan in 1912.
We were able to attend the Blossom Kite Festival where entrants from all over the country showcased their kite creating and flying skills.
