Cancun’s Underwater Art Museum

by

I may have to take up scuba diving so I can visit this museum, which is literally under the sea. The Cancun Underwater Museum of Art (MUSA) has over 500 submerged statues with nine more being added in September and October.

Fish swim merrily around pieces that include life-size human figures cast from Cancun locals, including one guy lounging on a couch eating a burger and watching TV, and a full-size VW Beetle, designed to entice lobsters to move in.

The museum was founded in 2009 to help preserve natural coral reefs by directing tourists to this manmade wonder instead.
