Designing a pickup in America is like opening a sushi restaurant in Japan. The competition is staggering, and there’s a subtle, local flavor outsiders struggle to replicate.
That hasn’t stopped Toyota, however, from trying. Like the F-150 it’s trying to steal buyers from, the Tundra is massive, unapologetic and virtually invincible. More so than any other truck, Tundras never break and barely depreciate. However, the Tundra’s 5.7L V8 isn’t as sophisticated as Ford’s turbocharged V6s, which offer similar power and eight more MPG.
If you’re looking for an invincible truck with an old-school V8, test a Tundra.
