The 2018 Mazda6: Is Mazda a true semi-luxury brand now?

Finally blessed with a turbocharger, the Mazda6 is quick, comfortable, well-equipped and quieter inside than a library. Plus, unlike standard car doors that close with an undignified whack, the Mazda6’s close with an aristocratic whump.

What, then, separates the $35k Mazda6 Signature from similar, semi-luxe midsized sedans from Buick and Acura? Nothing; in fact, I think it even surpasses them in looks and handling.

With a surprising lack of touch-sensitive door locks and curiously low-res backup cameras, the 6 isn’t perfect, but as a package, it’s a contender. Considering a sub-$35k sedan? Test a Mazda6.
