Holes-in-one exist now only in memory

Golfers daydream of making a hole-in-one. I don’t play often, but claim two. Alas, neither hole exists today.

One was as a student at Georgetown Prep, which since leased that hole and much of its golf course to condominiums.

A decade later, playing with Mike Egan at Bonnie Brae course in Greenville, SC, we high-fived when we approached the green, seeing the track of my ball in the morning dew leading into the cup. When they published my achievement in The Greenville News, where I worked, they misspelled my last name. Sadly, that course closed in June.
