March Gladness

by Jan Schroder

Amanda and Thomas Schroder met as high school sophomores at a basketball game and have been inseparable since. They were present when UNC lost last year’s championship game on a last second shot in Houston.

Sunday their first child (my first grandchild), Annie, arrived at noon on her due date, was immediately wrapped in a UNC onesie, opened her eyes to witness March Madness and squealed as the Tar Heels sank a last-second winning shot.

Impressive, but still pales in comparison to watching her parents work as a team through 16 years of romance and 18 hours of labor.
