Improving Campus Walkability

by admin

When Georgia Tech improved its pedestrian traffic between Tech Tower and Harrison Square last year, it joined other universities working to improve its campus walkability.

One campaign gaining large-scale traction in cities and on campuses publicly spotlights the time in minutes to points of interest. Walk [Your City], established at NSCU by Matt Tomasulo, has begun appearing on campuses nationwide, featuring signs such as “it’s a 4 minute walk to a grocery store.”

Tomasulo aptly said, “University campuses are really like small cities.” If we’re working to improve our cities walkability, we should do the same for our colleges.
