Atlanta Rotary Turns 100

by

In 1913 on a long train ride home from an advertising convention in Baltimore, Ivan Allen, Howard Geldert, Evelyn Harris and Henry Grady discussed the need for an Atlanta Rotary Club as an opportunity for businesses to unite in self-promotion and development.

The Atlanta Rotary had 38 original members – and now has more than 500. One of the largest Rotary Clubs in the world, the Atlanta Rotary is now celebrating its centennial. The themes for 2013 include “Service above Self” and “Promoting World Peace Through Understanding” with projects such as addressing homelessness in Atlanta.
