Carrots, I’m told, are the hardest – fussy, stubborn, slow to reward. In my garden, they’ve been the easiest kind of magic. I press the seeds into the soil, thin with care and then let them be. No hovering, no second-guessing. Just patience.
Weeks later, I tug gently at their green tops and out they come – bright, imperfect, sweet from the ground. Maybe they aren’t difficult. Maybe they just ask us to trust what we can’t yet see. To believe that something delicate can take hold without constant tending.
Carrots grow best when we loosen our grip and simply let them.
