I’d never eaten ramen, not even one of those cheap rectangular versions ubiquitous in college dorms. Ton Ton’s versions bear little resemblance to those, thankfully. Dishes include the Hakata Tonkotsu Classic with pork belly, soft-boiled egg, mushrooms and sesame seeds in a rich broth.
We started off with beautifully presented gyoza and tebasaki wings with a little kick.
Restaurateur Guy Wong (of Le Fat) opened Ton Ton this summer in Ponce City Market. Ton Ton doesn’t have its liquor license yet, so we enjoyed a delicious Maine Root blueberry soda and grabbed a beer in the market afterwards.
