Buckhead will have a new barbecue joint with the opening of Smokebelly May 21. The team behind Tin Lizzy’s and The Big Ketch has taken over the former Tavern 99 location and Darrell Rice will be executive chef.
After extensive research (how fun was that?) he’ll be serving barbecue from several regions. Yes, they’ll have pulled pork, smoked sausage and baby back ribs, but you may want to veer from the traditional to try smoked leg of lamb, pork belly and alligator.
Vegetarian options, salads, 10 house-made sides, craft cocktails and 20 craft beers on tap will be available as well.
