Best-selling author speaks about new WWII book

by
world war two soldiers

Adam Makos was so inspired by his grandfather’s service in World War II that he now writes nonfiction books about stories from the war. His first, “A Higher Call,” was a New York Times bestseller.

His new book is “Spearhead: An American Tank Gunner, His Enemy and a Collision of Lives in World War II.” It tells the story of Clarence Smoyer, an American tank gunner sent to battle the Third Reich. Makos will speak about his book March 4 at the Atlanta History Center. Buck Marsh, 95, whose story is also included, will be in attendance. Tickets are $10.

This book is on my TBR list, I really think it will be compelling. I am currently reading a book called Finding St. Lo which follows a Medic and a SGT in WWII. It’s great as it includes essays from their family members which tells their story of the time they were at war and their time after they came home. It’s by Ted Neill, tenebraypress.com is his site.
